It's invite only with no plans, that I've heard, for opening it up for everyone any time soon (if ever)

Its invite only until launch. After that its open for all. But do note, you need to have dedicated viewers to make it worth. I can't imagine them donating storage space for you if you or your viewers can't pay for it.
