I have moved into a new-build house (UK) that is set up with fibre to the house. I am just about to sort my internet package and would like advice on setting up my wireless network.

The house has network cabling to several rooms from the under stair cupboard (lounge, kitchen/diner and master bedroom).

I want a seamless wireless network throughout the house to share the glorious ultrafast broadband and would like advice on my best options. It seems to me a mesh network may solve this but is that surplus to requirement with the house wired for network?

I hope somebody can shed some light for me

Will

Mesh system would work good for that.

I'm personally a fan of Google's kit

Thanks for the speedy reply. I wasnt sure if the mesh network setups worked via ethernet runs or if they would default to communicate via wireless which obviously would reduce with distance

Most mesh systems are made for wireless links between nodes.

Id go with something like unifi aps if you have wired everywhere.

Thanks for the reply, this was my concern. Am I realistically going to notice a difference in speeds between something like the Unifi aps system and a mesh network such as the bt whole home wireless? My use case for the future is to have a server/nas at the router for media streaming and then in several rooms would like to be able to stream 4k hdr (netflix etc) in several rooms. Unlikely at the same time but I guess with 150-300mbs piped to the door why not lol

I'm seeing prices for the unifI setup at about £130 per unit and seems can only be powered by PoE so wouldn't need to purchase an injector for each also. In contrast bt will bundle me 3 whole home wifi doohickies for an additional £5 per month on a 24 month contract. I agree the unifi system you pointed me to is the best option for my use case but it seems to me it would cost significantly more and I'm concerned I could invest that cash better. Basically I'm asking you to convince me to spend more ?

I think they come with injectors, or just get a switch with poe built in.

Also id get these here, there about 80 bucks a pop https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-Unifi-Ap-AC-Lite-UAPACLITEUS/dp/B015PR20GY.

Id probably stay away from using the isp renter equment, it normally isn't great.

From the UK but can see the lite version here for £81.91. This might be a dumb question, but I can use PoE through whatever they have run through the house right? And (hopefully) final question, would a 2 of these bad boys configured through a poe switch connevted to the router likely sort me for the house? I can use some of the in house network runs to connect things like the main tv set up directly. Thanks in advance, I appreciate all your help

I bought the linksys Velop mesh system a while ago. With 3 Nodes.

Ethernet backhaul works really good, I absolutely love it.

I think Netgear Orbis are also capable of Ethernet backhaul, and they are a little cheaper than the linksys ones.

Be sure to look for the wifi 6 netgear orbi, I think I read somewhere that they are already offering the wifi 6 orbi generation. Not sure tough
