Help with a pc overall update

Go to solution Solved by Dedayog,

Right now I'm using the pc for games and streaming. I play in 1080p 144hz.

I was planing on updating the cpu this year and next one I'll update the GPU.

Then go with the 3700X + B450 Tomahawk + 3600MHz RAM (or 3000MHz depending on budget).  Would be my recommendation.

This is my build, bought it on 2014.

Processor: i7 4790K
Power Supply: 750W Corsair CX750M
Storage: (120GB Samsung 840 EVO) 1x HDD (3TB Seagate) + 1 HDD (500Gb)

I would like some help on updating it, I was thinking on about 1.000 USD budget. I'll keep my GPU (GTX 980) cuz I think that can handle one more year.

I was thinking on going AMD, ryzen 3700x, 16Gb of RAM 3600mhz, I don't have idea of a motherboard.

Can u guys help me?

Overclock that CPU to 4.5 or 4.6GHz.

What are you using it for?  Can't see you "needing" a CPU upgrade, but you may want one for the hell of it.  If so, 3600 for gaming and a B450 Tomahawk are a great combo.  Tomahawk will handle the 3700X easily as well.

What resolution are you gaming?  If your 980 can handle things, your 4790K can too.

Ok thanks then yeah Ryzen will be a massive upgrade for you.

Like i said value wise its not worth it for you to upgrade to a 2060RTX. Getting a 3600 and just keep the stock cooler and you will love it, make sure to get 3000mhz+ memory.

What will the 3800X do for you the 3700X won't?  Or are you caught up in higher number = better?

Na even with Amd's so called "binning" i would pick a 3700X over a 3800X heck save the extra on a cooler or a better board or faster memory(will matter way more).

Edit please note i own a 3700x haha
