Hello there!

My Name is Thomas from Germany and I am new here.

Since my old Lenovo Y580 cant do it any longer i want to build a new rig. Details:

Budget: 1500€

Application: 35% FE-Simulation (Simpack, Ansys, hypermesh), 30% CAD (creo, catia), 25% Gaming (aint got the highest expectations), 10% Multimedia

OC: not massivly

Looks: not important if silence is garanteed

Parts:

Case: Fractal Design Define S 65€

MB: Asus ROG Strix z390-E (wifi+antenna and BT 5.0 in board) 240€

PSU: Seasonic focus plus 650W (enough?) 75€

CPU: i7-9700k (need Intel for some minor applications Programms) 375€

GPU: MSI RTX 2060 Super Ventus (guess for CAD and some titles enough?) 420€

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 DDR4 32GB (actually only need 16 but meh) 175€

Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB 105€

Cooling: Noctua NH-D15 (cheaper than cheap AIO) 85€

Total: 1540€ (a bit higher)

But is it any good tho? Or are there better options?

Oh man you got issues by getting the 9700k.  It does not have HT.  The apps you want to use and state like CAD work or the other content creation type thing you do, you definitely cant get a CPU with no HT.  Those apps you use are pro and use HT , Taking in all threads and giving you a about 25 percent boost in performance.  If you were just a gamer then grab 9700k but if your into content creation like CAD or 3D Studio max or Maya or PS or Premiere then your gonna get the shaft if you buy a a non HT CPU.  Games will run fine either way but your apps will not like it to not  have HT and what not.  So I rercommend the 9900k for you.  If you cant afford it then go towards AMD route.

My man Luke to the rescue!!!   So long as the CPU has HT he will be good.  Very big mistake to get a non HT CPU if you use cad like you told me and other pro apps.  Luke put together as solid system.

i mean... i personally find a ventus and a focus a worse idea for silence... but everyone their thing

May I ask for what programs you would need Intel for? Because zen2 scores with pretty much everything almost as good or a bit better than Intel so maybe you can get a 3700x or a 3900x and don't miss any performance in those programs but have some more in other programs.

Hey! Thanks for the  rapid answers! Yeah HT would be nice to have, although i would rather get an Intel CPU and am just not willing to pay 750+€ for a cpu. All the intens simulations will be done at my workplace. The rig is meant to work with minor simulations.

Thanks for the quiet GPU tip!

Its not a topic of performance but of compatibility with structures and algorithm people from my work wrote to Analyse special problems. Those are add ons to e.g. hypermesh. They said that somehow they just work with Intel CPUs.

Oké then I'd say go for a i9 9900k or if the difference is more than 50 euro a i9 9900 and there is a chance that you need to use a other motherboard because of vrms and stuff but I don't know a lot about that but maybe some others are willing to help you with that.
