slow copy speed.

So I'm copying a 18 gig File from a m.2 drive to a 128 gig microsd, The microsd is connected to a USB 3 port on the back of my computer. I'm averaging 17.5 MB/s. Should this be faster?

6700k intel

twin gtx1070 founders sli

SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS m.2

16gigs of ram

what exact microsd? exact brand, model and type

 

most microsd will write at 10 megabytes per second

 

yours seems to be a U30 microsd

 

the m.2 and usb allows hundreds of megabytes per second, but a microsd is alot slower

Depends the model of SD card. Even a junk Class 10 card can be painfully slow..... Check the card speed, and make sure the card reader is running at USB 3 speeds.

usb 2 speeds can go up to 30 mbs, it has nothing to do with the the usb port, is more related to how slow is the microsd card and if the files are a bunch of small files mixed with big files, that affects copy speed
