Hi, I'm new to the forums 'cause I have a question I have been unable to properly answer from research.

Would a Bluetooth 5.0 enabled adapter for headphones be compatible with a relatively old, Bluetooth 4.0 enabled phone? Specifically would the 'FiiO BTA10' plugged into a set of 'Audio technica ATH-MX50's' be able to recieve audio from a 'Motorola MOTO G3'

This may well be an easy question but a lot of sites hinted at some nuances around the compatibility here depending on which features of new Bluetooth versions were implemented at either end.

I'm asking because the audio jack on my MOTO G3 is degraded to the point that it hardly works, and I don't have the money to buy a new phone. The headphones are fine, and I would like a way to listen to them wireless, for this purpose and the fact that its just more convenient.

So if anyone has other suggestions for solutions that they know will work, and cost less than around $55 USD, It would be awesome to hear them.

Thanks ?

It's backwards compatible like previous versions of Bluetooth it will just work at Bluetooth 4's speed. But shouldn't be that much of an issue in sound quality though as you should have access to aptx codecs which is mostly all that matter basically.
