Hey guys its been a while. Thanks for all the inputs you have shared me. Really helped alot.

And I got a little question for you guys, I was at a local pc store. Circling around, and I happen to be the gpu section. Two guys discussing about rx 5700xt and possible bottlenecking with an ryzen 5 2400g. (Not my intention to eavesdrop just happened to overhear them)

It got me thinking, what is bottlenecking? And is it true that a 2400g might bottleneck a rx 5700xt?

Any inputs is much appreciated.

And as always, thanks!

Bottlenecking is when one component isn't able to keep up with what another components wants to do. 95% of the time it's between the CPU and GPU.

While GPU's these days are much more autonomous, they still require the CPU's say so to do anything.

When the CPU is unable to keep up with the requests from the GPU, it's called bottlenecking.

Yes the 2400 can bottleneck the rx5700xt but it's highly dependant on the game.

An easy explenation is, you have a car with a small low power engine but use race slick tires. Just because you have race slick tires doesnt mean you are going to be much faster because the engine still sucks. Now if you have a race car engine but cheap tires, again you wont be able to go much faster because the cheap street tires cant get all the power to the ground, they start slipping and you lose lots of speed.

i mean you wouldn't use a 2400g with a 5700xt anyway, if you're gonna get dedicated graphics why get an APU

i can't imagine you would see bottlenecking though, it's a mid range card and it's a mid-range CPU. if it was overclocked a bit it'd definitely be alright to use, just a bit dumb to use an APU with a dGPU

True. I mean, it makes sense that you should get a better core at least. But there are others that already own a 2400g core and looking for an upgrade. Gpu at least.

For example, monster hunter world? Or assassins creed odyssey perhaps? Thanks
