Retro build (late 90's)

Ashleyyyy

i'm planning a retro build mostly from spare parts. now, i have so many spares that i'd like opinions of what i should use.

i have a choice of the following:

cpu:

- Pentium MMX

- Pentium 2 400mhz

- Pentium 3 550mhz EDIT: i can't use it because the Pentium 2 is in the board now and it's stuck. if i pull too hard i'm afraid to break the socket so it's P2 or MMX

gpu:

- ATI Rage II

- NVIDIA GeForce 2MX

- NVIDIA GeForce 3 Ti

- NVIDIA GeForce 6200

- S3 Trio64 V+

sound:

- Creative Soundblaster AWE64

- Creative ES1371

then, for parts i have no choice in i have:

mobo:

Pentium MMX: 5VLM M101 (unknown brand)

Pentium 2: ASUS P2B-L

PSU: BeQuiet System Power 9 400W (new, going to order)

HDD: a bunch of old IDE drives

what parts should i use out of the one's i have?

Is there a purpose to this build or are you just wanting to make a retro system? There's not much you can do with it, other than play WIn 95 or old DOS based games.

If you already have the parts, sure why not. I'd probably go with the P3 to ensure most of the old games run.

Just so you know though, those CPU's are about as powerful as a $5 raspberry pi zero that uses 1/10 the electricity ?

i don't pirate games. all the games i'll be playing are games that i own on cd-rom or floppy. therefore i can't use a rPI.

if you're quoting a long post, we normally remove it and add snip in place to not annoy users
