i mean because im not running in duel channel. would the upgrade from single to duel be worth?

Yes and no. It'll benefit your system overall since dual channel provides for much more efficient communication with the memory banks. Whether it'll benefit any specific application or game is a much more difficult question to answer. Given that web browsers spawn each window into separate processes, you'll see a better experience there. That you'd be going from disparate modules to matched modules - make sure everything about them matches up, including timings - will help as well.

Wife's build: Amethyst - Ryzen 9 3900X, 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200, ASUS Prime X570-P, EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 12GB, Corsair Obsidian 750D, Corsair RM1000 (yellow label)

Look at the 1080Ti usage %.  No way going from single to dual channel results in the GPU usage increasing like that.

ye im not sure, might just save that £50 for when i upgrade my cpu and mobo. ill need to get new ram then too. DDR4.

I think you’re fine mate, just sell 4GB and replace it with same specs RAM and you’re good to go. Your CPU isn’t that bad I mean IPC is around where Ryzen 2000 is with haswell if that gives you any idea, you can try to sell it for a decent price without rush or OC but I’m not sure if you can with such processor

Sweet, it can only be better with dual channel memory. What I mean with over locking is - GTX1070 is surely a little bottlenecked you can check yourself playing games cpu/gpu usage correlation in let’s say riva tuner OSD

it depends on the game, some games my gpu is bottlenecked but mostly its my cpu.

  • 2 weeks later...

so i did upgrade and wow, its a big difference. higher lows and overall better averages. 50-70 on Rising Storm 2 Vietnam to 100+.
Escape from Tarkov. same spots. 30-40fps then 70fps with rain.
