Which one should I get? RTX2070S VS 1080Ti OC VS RTX2080

Def9Infinite

Just got some money around and going to spend it on my computer upgrade. After already update my CPU to 3700X, I have a little bit of difficulty to choose which graphics card should I buy, after all, the brand new RTX2070 Super,  the RTX2080 or a second hand 1080Ti OC? They cost pretty much the same and so does their performance (through checking on the internet). Right now I have 144Hz at 1080p but planning to get a new monitor with 2K 144Hz. Thus among all three which card is the best for me?

Currently RTX 2080 > GTX 1080 Ti > RTX 2070S.

Besides, why would you replace 1080p 144 Hz monitor with another 1080p 144 Hz monitor?

I wouldn't really bother upgrading to 1440p 144hz IMO.

If you do a ton of competitive gaming a 240hz display would be better.

If it's for more screen space for movies or something a 4k display is more useful.

or go for a 1440p 21:9 display

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I've thought about that too. But right now there isn't any third party producer introducing their 5700XT and the poor thermal condition that the founder card had, I do not really want to get one right now.

And thx for the recommendation for monitors. :)

240Hz is great, if you play games where you'll be able to utilize it, along w/havin fast enough reflexes and good enough eyesight to be relevant.  You also have to remember if you're playin a variety of games and/or games that aren't shooter/fast reflexes based, then 240Hz is pretty much pointless/overkill.  A 1440p/144Hz display looks nice, while also still bein fast/smooth.  I play mainly shooters, but I still play single-player games that aren't as intensive like Tomb Raider/Rise of the Tomb Raider.  I would still benefit from 240Hz, but the 1440p looks nicer and is better for other games.

Not all games will benefit from the higher refresh rate, like MOBAs and slower single/multiplayer games; so look at what you play to make an informed decision.  1440p/144Hz is the sweet medium most enthusiasts aim for, since 1080p is dated and the vast-majority of players aren't good enough to take advantage of the immensely extra frame rates.  Look at what you're doin, how reactive you are and which games you're lookin to play regularly; along w/future games you're lookin for.

That's exactly why I asked why you want to replace 1080p monitor with 1080p monitor. 16:9 1080p is the closest you can get to 2k on regular desktops

Oh, I meant the 1440P, not the 2K. Haven't known that before.

I do hear a lot of people call 1440p "2k." Among its other names like QHD/WQHD.

@Def9Infinite If they're all a similar price, RTX 2080 is the fastest and comes with a warranty (unlike a used 1080ti) so that's the easy win for me. Otherwise, RTX 2070S is pretty good performance at a pretty good price.

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X | Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT | ASUS ROG Strix X470-F | 16GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB @3400MHz | EVGA RTX 2080S XC Ultra | EVGA GQ 650 | HP EX920 1TB / Crucial MX500 500GB / Samsung Spinpoint 1TB | Cooler Master H500M

2K is technically 1080p, 3k would be 1440p which I think you mean but the other commentors are nums or just playing with you to not realize this obvious mistake. (Vertical number of resolution times 2 is usually how you get the "k" number. 4k has 2000-something pixels vertically).

For a 1440p 144Hz to be utilized I would use a 2080 for the little bit of edge in fps (you wont get it on most AAA games) and it has the stronger feature of Ray Tracing. Easy choice

Edit: I would just stick to using the full resolution instead of the "k" branding, its only mostly used in marketing and for 4k
