So currently I have a rather dated prebuilt rig running a Ryzen 5 1600 and a Gtx 1060 6gb and I'm looking to upgrade.

I'm based in the UK, have a budget of £1,500 - £2,000 and already have monitor and peripherals. I'm not fussed about RGB, but I've got a 25" 240hz 1080p monitor that I'd like to get the best out of. The system is used almost exclusively for gaming and internet browsing.

Ideally I'd like it to be an ITX build for the small footprint, and something that doesn't double up as a space heater. Noise isn't so important to me because I wear headphones most of the time anyway. I've no particular hardon for an AIO liquid cooler either, it's more for aesthetic and positive reviews I've heard. Likewise no preference for AMD or Intel, again it's been suggested that Intel might work better for my monitor.

I'm considering something like the below, but as noted I'm a total novice so would welcome suggestions/comments/advice -

Thanks,

Fimbimble

Edit: Also happy to change case for a smaller footprint if possible! Subject to uk availability

As the person above said, AMD is certainly the better option in terms of value. May as well stick in a 3700x just for that extra futureproofing as more games start to use more than 12 threads. Something like this will work:

You could change to a 3600 as mentioned by the person above if you wanted to save money. I got rid of the cooler because you can use the stock cooler instead and save £120, but if you prefer to use watercooling then go ahead and add that back in. I also changed the psu, because it's slightly cheaper and you'll get the best customer service as always from Corsair. If you wanted to shave off even more and don't mind the heat, an RX 5700XT would save you £100 and only perform around 5% slower so that's an option.

Great, thank you. I wasn't sure on the cooler and only included it (aside from for aesthetics) because the last time I built a system the stock coolers were not particularly great.

Would there be any issues on freesync/gsync? The 25" 240hz is an Alienware with freesync, but I think they are now compatible with both anyways?

The heat is a big deal for me at the moment tbh, the room I'm in gets quite hot as it is, so cooler would be better
