Hi, i built my first gaming PC quite a few years back and i am noticing it is no longer capable at running most new titles at nice texture details. I have about £200 to spend on either new or used hardware i dont mind either way.

I'm stuck with what to upgrade and how much should i spend on an upgrade. I dont care about completely maxing out all games and i only play games a few hours a day after work.

Current specs:

i5 3570k @ stock speeds but i do have a H100i cooler, i just need to replace the thermal paste as its all crusty by now and runs very hot with anything over 4ghz

GA-Z77X-UD5H Mobo

8gb ddr3 1600mhz (2x 4gb)

EVGA GTX 670 FTW 2gb video card

Corsiar AX860 psu

Iv'e been really close to buying either the 1660, or spending a bit more on a 1660ti but i'm not sure if that will be too overkill as i only play on a 60hz 1080p monitor.

Or do i upgrade my ram to 16gb and get something cheaper such as a rx580 or 570?

Any help would be massively appreciated. Thanks

My personal opinion would be to upgrade RAM, and go with a lil cheaper GPU. Also, what are you using for a boot drive/ game drive?

Moving to an SSD will better your experience overall, so if you don't have one currently I would definitely consider that as part of your upgrade process.

Im using an old samsumg SSD and a 1tb drive for steam.

So would a gtx 1660 and 16gb a ram be a more balanced choice?

IMO yes. Im no expert but i know ram helped my experience a lot!! I went from 8 to 16 while also increasing speed. Maybe save for another month and snag the 1660ti. That card performs really well for its price point and gets you into Turing architecture. (1660 is Turing also)
