Hi I'm looking to buy me the i3 9100f, but I'm confused about the excluded graphics and what that means. Is that just for gaming or will it affect display as well? like if I were to plug the display port into the motherboard will I get picture and at least be able to watch videos. Forgive me if that's a stupid question but I would like clarification on that.

Nope. F CPUs are just like Ryzen CPUs in the sense that they aren't usable as a desktop without a graphics card as they are incapable of making use of display outputs on the board.

No, the f series are processors without integrated graphics, so the pc will absolutely not post if you don't put a dedicated gpu in there. If you don't want to buy a dedicated gpu then go for the ryzen 3 2200g, it's a quad core like the i3 and has great integrated graphics

No integrated graphics means you will need a dedicated video card to get a picture.

The PC WILL POST SUCCESSFULLY. Its just that you won't be able to see anything on the display because there is no GPU in the system. The 8100 seems to be something that you should be looking for if that is the case. However, the Ryzen APUs are an option, BUT there is something confusing about Netflix DRMs and AMD GPUs. So make sure you have that covered. I think the latest drivers support Netflix 4K but you may want to double check that.

I use the i3-8100 and I get more Geekbench Score than the 3200G (15500 vs 14800 which is the highest for 3200G assuming its using fast memory and overclocked as well). The GPU is slower obviously, but you don't need faster memory and overclocking and stuff to achieve that. Its just plug and play with some basic memory. I think intel at higher end is shit value. But for people looking to build basic computers with CPUs < 120$ the 8100 and G5400 can be good value overall (board + cpu + cheap memory) if you don't plan to game.

why would you steal yourself the possibility to play some games? The i3 8100 as an APU is shitty value if you're not planning to buy a graphics card, the cpu is slightly faster in single core but loses greatly overall. Besides, if like you said someone wanted the cheapest "plug and play" experience, why don't buy an Athlon 200GE? It's got better iGpu than every intel chip, is as fast as a g5400 and costs 40 dollars, 30 less than the Pentium. That's the absolute deal in that case
