Hi all, i have posted previosuly asking about dual gpu, stuff, and i realized, three monitors isnt worth it, so I wont need two gpus, with the money ill save, i can afford water cooling, which is awesome, but I have questions for the water block stuff for a 780 ti. First off, i cant find warranty stuff if I were to get a reference evga card, and a water block, can anyone tell me if it will void warranty? Second if I were to get the hydrocopper, how do I dry test it, like linus always reccomends to do, as well, as is it worth it, currently on amazon its 700 usd, but i seriously doubt ill have the money in time for this sale.

Off topic, what problems could accur if i were to water cool the sniper 5, since it has barbs already, if i water cool, will it be worth connect the mobo to the loop?

Edit: I mixed up the 780 hydro copper block with the 780 non ti, sorry this was a bit misleading.

Thanks, that was helpful. Is it better to get a reference card, and put a separate cooler on then?

^^ This.

EVGA is good with things like that. They really want to support the modding and overclocking community.

If you're running it with air for a bit, you may as well get the ACX version. It still uses the reference PCB, so you can use 3rd party blocks with it.

I would only wun air for like a week, to test things out, and because id have to order everything from ncix, id choose slowest shipping, dont see the point in going for a more expensive cooler, unless there is something im missing.

In that case, go for whichever is cheapest.

the reason Linus recommends to dry test it is if you happen to get a DOA card, you won't have any issues getting a replacement.  Not everyone's watercooling policy is as lax as EVGA.  Some void the warranty if the cooler is removed at all.

With the Hydro card, this isn't an issue.  Mine was actually DOA, well almost DOA.  It worked till I launched Far Cry 3 on it, then it died.  EVGA replaced it really quick, their service is awesome.

Thanks, this gives me confidence, in that card, but I might not go for that unless, it stays below 850, currently on amazon being 700usd, i have high hopes, dont want to personally replace, the cooler, but will do if needed.

So this is a very plausible option, but there are a few things that worry me still, how much maintenance would need to be done, how high is there a risk to spring a leak, and lastly if I went with a hydro copper, would there be any reason I'd want to air cool? sorry bout all the questions, but watercooling is expensive, and don't want to make a mistake.

if your going to air cool, a hydro copper card (it comes with a factory installed waterblock! FOR WATER COOLING!!!)  is the wrong card buy.

risks of leaks? no real way to tell unless you can see RMA rate some how. (retailer or EVGA employee)  but they keep coming out with them so they are making money doing it, so i'd guess not any more then air.

Risk of leak is always there...  for example my res just started leaking a few days ago out of nowhere after months of trouble free use...

to be honest, the only real reason for a gaming pc to use watercooling is for noise or just cause it looks cool.  performance benefit is very minor.  I honestly regret doing it, all the down time I've had dealing with watercooled related stuff isn't worth it to me.  My only other comp is a Surface Pro 2, so when its down I can't play any games or anything...  I'd sell it if I had a local buyer and go back to an air cooled system, prolly just an AIO for the cpu, maaaaybe a G10 for the gpu, but prolly not. but thats just me...
