Hey guys, this will be a pretty long post with quite a bit of detail, so you might wanna grab a coffee and some cereal. If you're an experienced builder I'd love your input; if not, your input is still more than welcome, although I'm looking for detailed opinions/recommendations.
I currently have a decent system that does pretty much everything I want it to do, but I'd prefer to be able to play games at 1440p @ 120+ FPS or at 4K @ 60+ FPS. I don't often play games at my desk unless its a shooter or something; I usually stream the game from my PC to my Nvidia Shield which is setup on my 65" 4K TV in my living room. Most games I try running at 4K @ high settings will stay below 60 FPS and I really am not a fan of that. In addition to my hate for playing at less than 60 FPS (when playing from my couch; when I'm at my desk I'd like to keep up with my monitor's RR), I am also not a fan of the system's configuration. I traded my Sager laptop for it and hadn't looked that much into Ryzen at the time and the last time I had a Gigabyte board it was really solid. However, this system IMO was built with the "ehhh, good enough" thought process. Below is some more detailed information that will explain why I think that way; skip if uninterested.

Spoiler

The EVGA 1080 FTW DT is basically a FTW3 that wasn't able to be OC'd to the FTW3 clocks. The RAM sucks balls and it turns out its lower clocked Corsair RAM that was OC'd from the factory, so trying to OC it any further than 3000Mhz isn't possible, at least not without getting a board that allows far more options in the OCing aspect. While I'm talking about the board, has anyone else noticed the bullshit with Gigabyte? My first system I built utilized an entry-level Gigabyte board and it was superb with my 6300; I ended up replacing it with a higher-end MSI board since it couldn't handle the 5.2GHz OC. I swear, that entry-level Gigabyte board offered more OCing abilities than my X470 Aorus Gaming 5. It is, without a doubt, the worst board I have ever used. It's advertised as an OCing board, but it's far from it. Turns out that Gigabyte states that they can basically advertise anything about their products, true or not. The powerphase isn't even 8+3, it's 4+3. Sorry to get off topic, I've just been irritated about that.

I don't really have a price in mind, but I would definitely prefer to keep it under $5k and if possible, under $4k. Keep in mind that I have another hobby that I usually keep at a higher priority than my electronics. I dump quite a bit of money into my vehicles and am always looking for deals on more 90s shitboxes that have a lot of racing potential. I plan on building a new system around December through  I've stopped playing games super competitively and have gotten more into fun games and titles that offer a unique experience rather than dumping hours into CSGO just to lose your SMFC to cheaters. That being said, I still would prefer to have a competitive edge or at least minimal disadvantages to the majority of semi-competitive players in games such as CSGO, Apex, BF, etc. The system I'm going for is something that will last 4-6 years, although I'm sure I'll upgrade it far before the 6 year mark. I'd love to have a 4K UW monitor with great colors, G-Sync, and 120hz+. G-Sync and a high RR (120+) is a must for my next monitor. I'm not too confident in the GPU I have selected when it comes to playing at 4K and don't really think I'm able to justify the price of a 2080 Ti. I'd like the system to be aesthetically pleasing as well, that's a pretty important part of the build for me. In addition to aesthetics, I would also like the system to be barely audible while gaming, with the ability to make it acceptably cooled during the Summer time. I am also a bit of an audiophile, so if you see anything I could add/change that I would see better results in that field please let me know. I don't need a DAC at the moment since both sets of headphones get adequate power through the Scarlett 2i4, but I'm sure I'll be adding to my collection down the road. I don't currently stream, but every now and then I feel like it; although I rarely will due to the limitations of my setup. Reliability and power are both a very high priority for me, hence why I don't really want to go the customer water cooling route.

Here are the components that I'm thinking about going with: PCPartPicker

Spoiler

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X w/ Corsair H150i Pro (Was originally going to get a 3800X, but I don't think there's that much of a benefit)

RAM: G.Skill Tirdent Z RGB 32GB (4x8) DDR4-3600
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000W P2 80+ Platinum

(I have a Dell Server with ~40TB or so of storage that I used for storing media and other large files, so if something needs to be removed to make the system fit my specifications, that shouldn't be a problem)
Monitor: Alienware AW3418DW (Am open to other suggestions) LG 34UC89G-B (Would definitely prefer a higher resolution monitor if one is available without a massive price jump)

Microphone: Audio Technica AT2020 w/ Neewer Scissor AArm & Shock mount w/ pop filter, anti-vibration

Note: Some components will be carried over to my new system from my current system. Everything on the PCPP list that is marked as "Purchased" are components that I already own and will be carrying them over to the new system.

Honestly if you really want a upgrage maybe get a new GPU but if your computer does evreything you want it to do. You'll probaly be better offf building a new system a couple years down the road

Well, I'm not really a fan of my motherboard or the RAM. If I need to replace the motherboard, I don't see a point in getting new components and not upgrading. Its true that my current system completes all necessary tasks for me, but I still want more out of it. I'd rather have something beefier and more dependable as well as something that I build rather than buying something pre-owner or built by someone that may be less experienced or less knowledgable. Plus, if I don't sell my current system, it will most likely turn into a HTPC or go to my girlfriend to replace her Alienware 17 R3.

Like looking from a price to performance standpoint you'll do better in the long run in terms of performance if you stick with this one for 1-2 more years and then upgrade.

Assuming its the laptop in your profile. You'd be much better off buying some individual components such as a monitor or a better DAC then you'll be getting a new PC

Seems my bio is outdated, my bad. The system I currently have is here. Definitely looking to upgrade to something that will offer better performance at higher resolutions while maintaining adequate low temps while staying below 30 decibels. To get my system to the point that I would want it at, I would need all new cooling, new RAM, a new motherboard, a new monitor, and a new GPU. The only thing that will really make me want to wait is if I find something else as a higher priority and would rather spend money on that.

Thats legit a better system. It's even less of a reason to upgrade.

In the long run you'll be better off putiing 5-6k into a portfolio which has a 10% rate of return. You can literally make 2k(before fees) for literally doing nothing and sticking with what is currently still a very very high end machine.

Eh, to me it's a decent system. Don't get me wrong, a few years ago I would've killed to have this sytem. It just doesn't keep up with what I want it to do. I don't need a new system, but I'm definitely to the point where I'm wanting one. With the one I have now I can't maintain a stable framerate in quite a few games, and dipping below 144 FPS @ 1080p in Apex or other shooters is definitely irritating. I'm the type of person who wants everything to run as smooth as possible. I'd be willing to bet I've spent over 60+ hours attempting overclocking the memory and CPU, but since the Gigabyte board is garbage, there isn't much I can do. Either way I'll definitely be upgrading the system. I'm not the type of person who will simply upgrade a few components and settle. I'd rather have a barely audible, high-end workstation capable of doing everything I would like it to do with little to no effort on my end. Everything about my system just erks me.
