Weird internet speed

Bush Badger

I am using Rogers (a Canadian ISP) and I am on the up to 1gbps down and up to 30mbps up plan. I had a technician over today to check on frequent disconnects and packet loss. He replaced almost all the coax heads around the house and outside and the speeds good, once he left the speed dropped down to around 300 down and 9 up, but after an hour it went back up to around 800 down and 20 up. Could this be because I am sharing the node with other Rogers user in the area? I have had 6 techs over and they all just plug their work laptop into my modem and say the speed is fine and they leave. How do I explain it to them that the problem is much deeper? Besides the frequent internet disconnects and packet loss, are there other things that I should mention or test that I should have them preform? Thanks in advance

Judging by your speeds I would guess your on Docsis 3.1 cable internet. The first thing to check is your signals. Generally you can access them by going to 192.168.100.1. Thats if the ISP lets you have access. Compare you numbers to here: https://www.dslreports.com/faq/16085

Many times signal issues can cause issues as well. Also check the logs and such.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
