Upgrading RAM for 1950x question

Hey, I'm upgrading my modest i7 6700k 4 core to a 1950x and I need to upgrade the RAM at the same time. I'm currently on 32GB 2133MHz DDR4 HyperX Fury and looking to go up to 64GB Corsair Vengeance.  I just wanted some advice on whether to get the 2666MHz or the 3000MHz... Threadripper 1950x supports 2666Mhz RAM but does it support 3000Mhz or higher... or would that be a waste of the extra cash? Any advice would be much appreciated :)
