Ryzen 7 2700 Temps

Go to solution Solved by C17H23NO2,

Maybe this Precision boost overdrive / XFR2 is on. Then it auto OC's the CPU etc.
Otherwise I had around 40-45°C Idle with stock cooler on the 2600 too, so maybe that's normal for standard cooler, also depending on your fan speed what temps you get.

K, just making sure it's not the old 28 degree offset thingy.

Is the system in a case with airflow issues?

Case is Phanteks Enthoo Evolve, front and rear fan, used to have my 3770 build in it with Thermaltake fan cooler, temps were in high 30's at idle from memory. Could be the ShinEtsu paste, used the last half of the tube, had it for a few years and maybe was not enough left..... or it could be the activated XMP memory profile....

Turn XMP off and check, but I agree it should be cooler than that at idle even with XMP on.

Unfortunately no difference, may need to try reapplication of new thermal paste or failing that a better CPU cooler.

Thanks

Thanks, disabled precision boost overdrive, got rid of the shitty Wraith Prism, bent some fucking cpu pins thanks to that stupid cooler, straightened the pins, installed Noctua NH-U12S temps better but still not 100% happy as idle temps jumping between 43 and 50 :( I do not want to go the water cooling route btw

It's not the same CPU (R5 2600 OC to 4.1Ghz allcore)
But i have temps of 40-45°C in idle too atm. Thanks to around 35-40°C in my room :'D

Otherwise in my opinion the Idle temp. is not that important. More important is the temp. behaviour under load.

My idle temps on my 2700 with stock cooler were around 41C with ambient temp of 28C. While gaming I had max 55C, I used the paste included with the cooler and my case is Deepcool Kendomen and it has 5 fans. Funny thing is that I used the stock cooler for like 2 weeks while I was waiting for the same NH-U12S you bought to arrive.

With NH-U12S I have 29-31C idle and 41C gaming (ambient of 25C), I used MX-4 Pea size. Running stock setting with PBO and everything else enabled. Also have set minimum processor state to 20% on my power plan.

Thanks for the message, wow yours is a big difference, my idle temps are still 46-50 even with Precision boost overdrive disabled in bios and only XMP active, CPU is 3700x now because I swapped it over. Mobo is MSI B450M Mortar. I think It needs a bios update, hopefully MSI release in the coming weeks.
