Upgrading RAM

I am thinking of upgrading my RAM from 8gb 2133mhz to 16gb with a higher speed. atm i'm running an r5 1500x and thinking of overclocking a little bit and i know amd cpu's like faster and higher capacity ram. only problem is i have 2x4gb sticks and my mobo only has 2 ram slots because i'm an idiot and didnt think before i bought the mobo. my question is that should i upgrade or leave it until i decide to upgrade the pc fully again a few years down the road

16GB of ram at a higher speed will make a HUGE diffence not only in gaming but also in everything else so you should absolutely do that if you can spend the money needed

my general opinion is that you should only upgrade if it's not doing something you want it to do

getting faster ram may increase your performance, but do you need it?

if yes, then maybe upgrade your RAM.

if not, then i'd stick with it until next platform upgrade

Go for it, you can always re-use the RAM when you upgrade
