So I'm planning on building a PC and I'm choices for the cpu is either a Ryzen 5 3400G or a Ryzen 5 2400G and I'm kinda tight on budget now(already kinda exceeding it not even including an os). Is the Third gen Ryzen 5 worth the extra cost?
Ryzen 5 2400G- USD 132.41

Ryzen 5 3400G- USD 157.41

The 3400G is about 10% faster overall in games and productivity. I'd say for the small price difference, I would go for the 3400G, but both are decent options.

Are you using a dedicated graphics card? In that case, you will be better off with a Ryzen 5 2600. Much faster, and can be found for $120 now.

Thank you for the reply

I'm gonna go for Ryzen 5 3400G and not going for a dedicated gpu (at least not right now might consider getting one but in the far future)because I can't really think of a decent build with it with the budget that I have so I just decided to go for a integrated gpu build and then maybe get a gpu later on.

No problem.

Just FYI, if you can spend around $225, you can get a Ryzen 1600 with a RX570, which would be WAY faster than the 3400G in games.

If you cannot afford that, the 3400G is a good option until you can afford a RX 570. Perhaps look at buying used as well.

How much is the 3200G for you?  If it's around $100, may be the good temporary pick for you.

I have been considering going for that but my concern is if it can run blender decently (since I'm a student and I use blender whenever we're asked to do a project)

I'm curious, do you know if the 3400g is able to match or even exceed GT 1030 or RX 550 graphics performance? If I recall correctly, the 2400g was about 10% behind.

I know it's not the best site, but Userbench shows the 2400G beating the GT1030...

That's embarrassing...Integrated graphics beating a card being sold for close to $100.
