mining on a quadro

hey guys

I was wondering if I should recommend to my boss if I should start mining with the system

the specs are,

3x Quadro m6000

2x 14 core xeon`s

at the moment it is being used for virtualisation during the day but during the night it is just sitting idle, should I mine or not?

thanks Tom

If your boss said yes then just do it cuz every little bit of folding performance helps even tho there are many budget cards that would do more than M6000 it does not matter at all just fold :)

i don't think he means folding, i think OP want's do do actual Bitcoin/altcoin mining on the system.

for actual mining i don't think you should use this system. the cost in power draw will likely be more than it will make in mined coins.

Depends what you mine.

There are a PLETHORA of coins that are exchangeable for BTC on the BTC Exchange.  Mining is not dead lol, its just not as easy as it used to be.

Says you, and that's fine.  Mining is not dead, certain TYPES of mining is however.  I mine both my CPU and GPU when not at home on my Ryzen Rigs because the coin I mine yields better results for exchange on the BTC market than the electricity costs.  And since the valuation on a Crypto is up to society, its worth the potential risk.

The fact you say period like you are a Subject Matter Expert is kind of funny.  But Im glad its dead to you, means the block chains wont be taken up by other people (like you)

the fact is tough, for someone who asks a forum if he should mine he probably doesn't know what coins he should mine to turn a (marginal with the hardware) profit.

and since people who do know about a worthwile currency want as little people mining it as possible, i'm not counting on you to tell him what he should do, or profits for you go down potentially.

so what i'm trying to say is; 'should i mine?' is not a simple yes or no question. there's a lot more here that needs to be taken into consideration.

100% agree to this - and you are right, I wouldn't divulge that information :) for the reason you are stating as the currency we utilize is infantile compared to others - but I/we have direct influence over its use-case in the Midwest of the USA :)
