Hey there,

So I'm planning in building a new pc mainly for work and a little bit of gaming.

I'm not a big gamer but sometimes i would like to play some games and relax, I'm not chasing 4k resolution or anything like that, 1080p is good for me.

I'm working with cad programs and flow simulations which involves a lot of calculation for cpu, so the more cores the better.

I have 2 monitors and all the peripherals so I need only the pc with a case and everything inside it.

The price would be 1000euros max.

This is what I'm thinking about:

CPU - would like to go with a new 7 series ryzen cpu, something like 3700x;

GPU - Nvidia Geforce 2060 or 2070;

Ram - 16 or 32gb ddr4 (maybe 16gb now but would be good to update to 32 if I need to)

Motherboard - this is the tricky part cause I'm not really now anything about them. Is the PCI 4.0 worth it or not ?

PSU - don't now much either, but something from corsair is good I guess;

Case - I'm not looking for RGB or some fancy case, just a case with a good ventilation and as less noise as possible.

SSD - I already have one, so no need for that.

I would appreciate any suggestions :)

Which country?

Lithuania, I guess gtx 2070 is a bit to expensive and it will be to much for my needs. Currently I have gtx 970 and it's enough for my needs.

Softwares like solidworks don't have gpu acceleration, but maybe in the future it would be nice to have that extra power if I need to.

There isn't a PCPartpicker for Lithuania so I'm using the German one, don't know if prices are similar though

With this motherboard, if it does not come with a Ryzen 3000 ready BIOS, you have to flash the BIOS using a USB drive. You can find tutorials on youtube.

If it has a Ryzen 3000 Ready sticker on the box you should be able to plug and play

For Fan config I'd recommend 3 front intakes and one exhaust at the back, the case comes with 2 stock fans

Also, remember to quote when replying, it's the left-pointing arrow below the post you wanna reply to. That way whoever you reply to gets a notification :)

Ok, thank you, will have a look at the pricing in my area.

And what about cpu cooler, the stock cooler is good or should I upgrade it to something else ?

From all the testing i’ve seen on the Ryzen 3000 series it looks like thermals should be handled fine with the wraith cooler that comes with the piece.  As long as you are not trying to push any kind of OC.

Also as far as PCIe 4 is concerned unless you are doing a lot of data-bound work that throws a lot of read/writes at a ssd and can benefit from doubling that then the only really need for gen 4 is future proofing.
