Mine is-

g41 motherboard with q6600 2.4 4gb ddr3 and gt 610 2gb

Not worth it at all honestly, save that $150 and put it towards getting like a 2200G upgrade or something, that Motherboard and CPU is 12 years old and putting that much into it to upgrade to an i3 of the same year is a complete waste of money and won't make a difference in performance.

Oh hell yeah. If you can find a cheap 2600k and a p67/z68/z77 combo? Game changing. Stable overclocks at 5 GHz ia always a plus.

That's the thing intels resale value is through the roof, spending $150 to $200 on getting a 2nd Gen CPU and mobo is pointless especially with Ryzen available. Where you can upgrade to AM4 and DDR4 and have so much more options for upgradability where as if OP were to do a 2nd Gen i7 they'd be stuck and in order to upgrade they'd have to buy a whole new platform again. Absolutely pointless, If OP were to go for Ryzen 2200G with a cheaper B450 board and some good ram, they'd be able to upgrade to a better CPU at any time it's a much better option.
