Building a Website Server

Go to solution Solved by Electronics Wizardy,

For a basic word press site, you can host this on anything.

Id personally get a used server like a dell r720, has all you want, fast well supported.

Hey Guys,

My friend has just upgraded all of his PC's in an internet cafe which I helped build.(loving the RTX Range) He also now has gigabit from the isp finally with static IP addresses.

He's let me use his location as a test site for any tech I want to run.

I've always wanted to test my own webserver but after dealing with gaming builds looking at servers makes my head numb.

Can anyone assist and recommend the build I should use, even if its just the chipset.

I notice that more recent CPU's tend to have fewer cores in the lower price range.

Is that because the cache size is more effective for a server than the number of cores.

The goal i want to test is to see how many concurrent users i can reach.

Im going to stick a basic WordPress website on the system then run a whole bunch of requests from an external pc via a domain i will link to it to see how much load/users it can handle.

The build needs to:

-Be 1k-1.5k max

-Include CPU,ECC Ram & Motherboard

- Also im looking at raid 10 so it needs to support the number of storage slots

Note:I have all other gear like ssd's and will get a custom server rack etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Matt

For testing check out: https://www.joedog.org/siege-home/

As for the server itself, literally anything will be overkill for a single Wordpress site. Go pick up an Intel NUC for $200, be happy with several thousand concurrent users, and call it a day. ;)
