A 5820k can handle a lot, in most circumstances, but it's getting on in years. My friend's 5960x at 4.4GHz and his 1080 ti doesn't quite reach the constant 144Hz in Overwatch that he needs, you may experience the same.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

My goal is to run games at 1440p 144Hz

Probably I will switch to an i5 9600k later

ryzen is pretty compelling this time around, consider saving some cash via the ryzen 5 3600 or 3600x for your rig.

My aforementioned friend is also getting a Ryzen CPU for his 1440p 144Hz rig.

What mobo I should use for an 3600x?

For gaming purposes, the B450 Tomahawk has become quite popular. It can flash the BIOS without a last gen CPU via the BIOS flashback feature, and the VRM solution is more than enough for a good OC on your average 6 or 8 core CPU.

Great, another question, what you suggest to upgrade first: switch my 1070 FE for an 2070 super and change the cpu later, or keep the 1070 and change the cpu/mobo first?

p.s. when some custom 2070 super will be available on Amazon? I couldnt find anything on that

I think swapping to the 2070 super first is the best move, since there's still quite the chance your current CPU can handle your performance needs.

There are some 2070 super models on newegg

Probably I'll go for that, should i keep my 1070 for Pysix or is more profitable to sell it?

phys X is in a very limited number of games. Selling it would be optimal, to recoup cost from the 2070 super.
