it's possible, AI Suite messes with many things I never recommend it, You can try uninstalling it, and then try updating your Chipset drivers from here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28182/Chipset-INF-Utility?product=46644

If it doesn't work then you can also find ACPI drivers in Device Manager under System Devices, try manually uninstalling all ACPI stuff, there's also Microsoft ACPI if you scroll down, and then restart your PC, Windows will reinstall them again

Recently for the past few months, there's this task called "System" that sometimes pop up when i restart my computer and it doesnt go away until i shut down* AND turn off the power in PSU

*My system doesn't fully shut down either when this is present, it just stays at screen off but system light is still on state, i have to hold power button to fully shut it down.

anyone know how to diagnose such a problem?

You mean RGB or a white LED on the board? yeah that's supposed to happen, fans should be off though

That's supposed to be there, it's a host for drivers, but I found this that's helpful to diagnose where the problem is coming from
https://superuser.com/questions/527401/troubleshoot-high-cpu-usage-by-the-system-process

Download Process Explorer and right click on System and go to properties as explained on that page

ik system is supposed to be there, but 30%+ and preventing my desktop from fully turning off is an issue (restarting gets stuck at the weird power state too)

yea i saw that thread, looks kinda complicated tbh...

It's really not, don't pay attention to anything else, just open Process Explorer and find System and go to Properties>Threads and provide a screenshot here (sort by CPU usage when you're in Threads tab)

Yes but CPU usage seems to be 0%, is it 30% right now in Task Manager?

Well it's the ACPI driver, so you're right about your PC not shutting down because of System process, ACPI controls Power and Fans

What are you System specs? is it Blood Lust in your signature?

i believe this problem persisted over a format i did recently... but that format was done using a system image i created when i first freshly installed windows previously...

so if i could fix it without format, would be great
