I'm cool with going higher or lower than 150$, but that's about how much I feel comfortable spending on headphones. The pairs I was looking at were skullcandy venues and Sennheiser HD4.40. I know they both include Bluetooth, but I mainly use them for playing games and consuming media on my desktop through a wire. I already use a HyperX external sound card thing. I'm not really an audiophile or anything, but I would like them to have ANC incase ever do plug them into my switch or phone while on the go.

dt 770 32 ohm very good headphone and easy to run on anything sounds great for gaming and the noise isolation is really impressive as it has no ANC. i own he hd 4.40 and they are pretty good as music cas personally wouldn't use them for gaming. I also wouldn't buy anything skull candy.also takstar pro 82 and pro 80 should be around this price point both good budget gamming and music cans .

So out of curiosity why wouldn't you buy anything Skullcandy?

not my preferred sound signature and as a someone who likes a lot of bass I find they do a lot of bass wrong always emphasising quantity over quality. good bass on headphones does not meanjust mean a lot of it rather a lot of it in a controlled fashion allowing them to not muddy up the mids allowing voices to come through. skull candy is about brand like beats they to me are like budget beats, all about the brand not very good for the price. but most people would be happy with them because mos people don't really have access to other headphones and gear at the same price point to really compare and contrast.

Okay cool. I always wondered why I would either see really high reviews or really low ones. Personally, I'm pretty okay with them as I use ink'd wireless for walking around and have had no problems and find that they are pretty good wireless earbuds for their price. Thank you for the info and recommendation tho. Surprisingly I've actually used the exact model you recommended and enjoyed them so I'll definitely pick them up.

For $150, check out the JBL E65BTNC

It comes with ANC, has both wireless and wired options and unlike most JBL headphones, has a much better V-shaped sound signature. The typical JBL and Sony headphones have an Extra Bass sound signature, which heavily emphasises bass over all other details. The V-shaped sound signature means that you’ll get a perfect balance of Bass and Treble, which crisp vocals, which is important for gaming.

Another option is to buy a separate gaming headset, and a casual headphone. If you want a wireless gaming pair, check out the Corsair HS70, but this is a purely PC/Console headset, as it doesn’t support switch or mobile devices.

It costs $70. The remaining $80 could be spent on a JBL E55BT, which is just the E65BTNC, but without noise cancellation. It costs $78.

A third option would be to spend all $150 on the HyperX Cloud Mix, which is like the best of both worlds. It is a Bluetooth gaming headset, that supports a wired and Bluetooth connection. If you want to use these two connections (Bluetooth and wired) simultaneously, check out the Steelseries Arctis 3 Bluetooth, which is a cheaper pair, but isn’t great at bass.

Lastly, you could get a wired gaming headset, like the HS60 from Corsair, and spend the rest on a good headphone

personally wouldn't go with any of these headsets.  and for gaming big boomy bass is not as important as better upper mids and highs as thats what is most important for listening to footsteps. bass is nice for gunshots and explosions but a more ideal sound signature for gaming is leans totowards neutral with bright mids and highs.

That’s literally what I said when I mentioned sound signatures. The V-Shaped is better for gaming. And all the headers mentioned have received quite positive reviews, I don’t see why you wouldn’t negate all of them.

Still, another option, apart from these is the Sennheiser HD 4.50BT

for competitive gaming where you only really want detail at higher frequencies you want something relatively flat or neutral with with a little emphasis on the upper mids and the highs to highlight footsteps. a v shape would recess some mids and emphasise bass which can be good for gaming if you want to have fun and want to play more casual games where you want to have fun listening to boomy explsions and gunfire but not ideal for competitive games.

I wouldn't go for any of the headsets you reccoemnded because I don't buy any audio products from any company that also makes other peripherals lie mice and keyboards with the exception of hyper x with the cloud 2 design as those are basically rebranded takstar pro 80's or cooler master with the mh 752 as those are rebranteded takstar pro 82's. I don't base my opinion on reviews rather then experience and I have not heard anything good from corsair including the hs70 or hs 60, the cloud mix is ok but if I went wired I would have better sound from something else like the dt 880, 770, hd 58x.

Based on your reply, I’m inclined to agree.

In that case, the MH752 from Cooler Master, or even the latest G Pro X from Logitech are solid options.

haven't heard the g pro x yet but it looks pretty promising considering logitech's past headsets.

the pro series migh be decent if their mouse is anything to go by as they should have tned the headphones based on what pro gamers want. but the apparent lack of soundstage s a little concerning.

If you watch the HardwareCanucks review of the new Pro X, you’ll realise that the narrow soundstage issue has been solved, though not by a large margin.

I'm personally a fan on the Audio Technica ATH M50x. its a good pair of headphones that many people use. you would have to get a separate mic since it doesn't have one.

m50x is not very good for gaming or very good for the price unfortunately. lack of soundstage, imaging or separation and the very heavy v shape  makes them not very good for gaming and nor very good for most things unless you just want detail screamed at you. it is easily outclassed by similarly priced headphones such as the dt 770,880,990, hd 58x, even the cheaper m40x. but I would agree with going a good headphone and a separate mic.
