They are all very capable to watch shows and read ebooks, but the question is if you will be streaming the shows (eg, netflix etc) ? If you're downloading them from example itunes, you might want to consider higher memory.

why not the new kindle? it has a resolution of 2560x1440 and it can do what you want, only issue is that os, if you are willing to get beast stuff in a package, you could root it and put a custom rom like cyanogen if you want something similar to stock, or you could get more crazy and put AOKP, Carbon, Omni, or something similar to that.

What I mean is, that streaming DOESN'T require alot of memory, so if you are going to download the shows, you might want to have higher memory.

Not sure actually... You don't really get many benefits from investing the extra money into the 2013, if you're using it for reading ebooks and watching shows, I'd go 2012 if you're using it for that, if I were you.

I would get the current generation Nexus 7 just for the screen. It is much better than the first gen Nexus 7.

2012 ver is 720p

2013 ver is 1080p

Depends on the quality of videos you will watch. Personally I would pick 2013v because I love pixels.

Pardon my English. Not my native language.

The 2012 version (What I have) is pretty cheap on eBay. (Mine is overclocked too.) The screen is pretty good, but after trying the 2013 model at Best Buy I can say that it looks glorious. If you have the money, get the 16GB 2013 model. (32GB if you want a bunch of music/videos.) If you want to save money, go for the 2012 model.
