What CPU should I get?

Hi, I currently have an i5-4690k based system that I put a 1070ti into. I'd like to build a new system and throw my 1070ti in it. I do some light gaming and CAD work on Inventor. I won't be buying soon so Ryzen 3000 is an option. Which CPU would be the best? I want it to be somewhat future proof so would going with a 3700x instead of a 3600 or 3600x be worth it? Would a 9700k be better? Let me know, thanks.

Are you 1080p or 1440p?  

 

4690K is a solid chip still, OC that sucker.

i dont really get it, is there any urge in upgrading...? and how many yrs would your futureproof translate to?

ryzen do drop prices in sales

I think I just need better storage. I'm just using a 1tb hard drive atm. Whats a decent ssd I could put into my existing build? Also, how would I get windows to boot off of that instead of my hard drive?

Crucial MX500 is a great drive.

 

You can clone to it, and then leave your games to the HDD.  Or just reinstall Windows (recommended) and leave the games on the HDD.

How would I reinstall Windows without buying a new key?

If not, get a key at kinguin, scdkey, etc etc etc.  $10-$5.
