I'm planning to upgrade my cpu but I'm torn between the 3600 or the 3700x CPU because I plan on buying a new GPU as well. Currently my cpu is the i5-3570 and my GPU is the GTX 970. So should I get the 3600 and buy a better GPU or get the 3700x and hold off for a GPU sale?

you should do fine with a gtx970 at 1080p 60fps high settings, and it should always be at 100% load.

if you need upgrade gpu, also get a better monitor.

a jump to rtx2060 super / 5700 shall be a massive improvement.

then consider cpu upgrade, 3570 is only bad for ubisoft / battlefield/ and some other specific titles

Yeah it's mostly for gaming

3600 will do fine enough.

That'll allow more leeway later for maybe a high refresh rate monitor and better GPU sooner than later

4 core i5 with gtx970 will still be great for secondary pc. suggest get a cheap mobo (the most barebone H61 will do)
