Since this is a new launch, let's say for all intents and purposes that it's all motherboards. AMD's boot kit mentions specifically 2000 series CPUs on 300 series boards, but chances are they'll expand that for 3000 series CPUs on 400 series boards.

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100

Of course it doesn't hurt to ask AMD support for a boot kit to update B450 boards, or find a local shop willing to lend one.

B450 is a great choice for gaming on a budget setup, the 3600 isn't exactly some power hungry beast compared to the 2600 and 2600x, and PCIe 4.0 isn't a gaming focused feature.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Literally any b450 motherboard has the capability to run a 3600 provided it has the needed bios update, I'd suggest the msi b450m bazooka, it's at a good price of $80 and it has some of the best power delivery of any b450 board, the memory overclocking is also very nice on this board.

8086k Winner BABY!!

A B450 board won't boot until is has been updated. When the seller has updated the board, the package will say "Ryzen 3000 ready" but since the launch was three days ago, you won't find any of those for some time.

In order to update the bios you need a 1000 or 2000 ryzen cpu, OR you can do what I did, which is to buy a motherboard than can update the bios via usb, no cpu required. I bought a MSI B450-A Pro, putted the latest bios on a usb, plugged it in, pushed a button on the motherboard and wham-bang-thank-you-mam. I'm gaming with a 3600 no problem.
