Building a new system | Looking at cases

Hey all!

 

So I was looking to build a gaming system for my brother. I was looking to build it around the LIAN LI PC-O11 Dynamic case but was wondering what other people thoughts are on it. I really like the look of it, but I believe the case is more for custom liquid cooling than say a liquid/fan combo. I have my own system, but for this one that I am planning to build, I want it to be a bit more visually stunning. I don't have anything set in stone yet, so any thoughts and suggestions would be great!

O11 Dynamic is great for AIO, not good for air cooler (GPU air cooler is fine). A CPU 360 Rad up top, and 3 side fans is great. Love the case, built several times in it. Trick is to remove the top HDD cage/PSU cage if you aren't using HDDs for extra space for cable management. Pain to work in if you are using sleeved cable extensions. If you want something stunning, here are my favorate cases for not necessarily custom loop. View 71. Heavy, but some airflow, and a shit ton of TG. Dark Base 700. Very sleek, great stock fans, a little RGB. Corsair 500D SE, expensive, but comes with 100$ worth of fans. 570X, nice RGB, but really heavy, and is a little too much glass.

Do you have any general recommendations for a build (in terms of hardware) using the O11 dynamic case? Because I want to use this case but obviously do have a budget, so nothing too insane.

What platform AMD/Intel.

for a mid-high range build (think 1500$)

Thanks for putting this together! That seems like a reasonable price for that system. For this particular build, I am not looking for anything super powerful because my brother isn't a hardcore gamer or anything thing, but does play some games that could use a decent system. This hits the ballpark in my opinion. I am going to continue looking around at other cases just to see what's out there but right now, this build is standing at the top.

yeah, no problem. If all you want is a decent 1440p 75-100fps rig, you can probably save some cash and make it look nicer by going with a H150i pro instead of the S36, and using a X470 motherboard and a Ryzen 5 3600 and a RX 5700 XT or RTX 2060 Super instead of a 2070. Perhaps even try to grab a 2070 while they are on sale for like 400$

Then get him some nice peripherals!

Hmmm, decisions, decisions. I will take a look. Also, is it cheaper to go AMD over Intel or is there any advantages/disadvantages? My current system is intel, but I wouldn't be against doing an AMD build.
