so if I'm downloading with a VPN on will the people of my house hold be affected because I'm downloading or will it not even effect them because I'm downloading from the VPN servers

No, it won't. Having VPN won't affect anyone else on your network unless you configure your *router* to use the VPN.

Yes, you downloading will impact others on your network if you're fully saturating your download speed.

A vpn won't magically give you your own wifi connection. As others have mentioned, your data will still pass through your router.
