EGPU through USB C

So I have a Helios 300 w a USB C. I was wondering once the 1060 in my Helios is useless, will my 2080 ti be worth gettin an external GPU that’s connected through USB C. Worth the 300, 400, even 500* for an e gpu, or should I just start saving for an Alienware area 51M

It has to be thunderbolt not just USB C.

USB C is basically 1 PCIe lane. TB3 is 4. The performance degradation would be horrible. Think ¼ FPS or similar. So worse than your 1060.

How would I know which version USB C it is. I just realized I had it after having the laptop for a while
