Hey everyone,

To get quickly to the point my pc is around 5 years old, I have had my CPU OCed for the past year now and for the past 2 months, I've been encountering this problem where my PC would shut down when first time booting it. It would go to a black screen saying "all settings were set to default" and forcing to press F1, F2 or F3 for different options. After i restart it by going to bios and turn it on again for the second time, there are no shutdowns or any other problems. Is there any way of fixing this besides lowering the OC or turning it off at all?

Thanks in advance.

Does lowering the OC fix it? If it does, your overclock just isn't stable anymore. If not, could be a motherboard issue (maybe a bios update could fix it? Maybe a dead cmos battery?)

You could try removing the OC and seeing if that fixes the problem?

IF it does then the problem is in your OC; if it doesn't then the problem can be in your PSU or motherboard etc.

So just remove your OC for some time.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

if i return everything to standard values it does fix it, but running my i5 4690k on stock just isn't feasible for me anymore and i just need it to work for couple more days till ryzen gen 2 comes out.

I should totally do this, should know if its my psus fault in before i buy the new ryzen gen 2 in the near future.

Then lower the OC. It's not that long, and my 4th i5 non k (whatever the part number is) is serving me just fine.
