Way less bass when using PCM compared to DTS Neo 2:5

Hi so was wondering if it is normal to have way less bass when using PCM compared to DTS Neo 2:5 on my Samsung TV.

Its connected to my Teufel Concept E450 via Optical Audio.

I also tested this on the Samsung HW-M450 sound bar I had before, and the result was the same.

 

I ask this because I was planning to upgrade from my Samsung UE43M5650 to the new Q60R 55inch, but since the new model doesn't support DTS Neo for some reason I was wondering if I should not upgrade, because I cant live without the earthshattering bass of my E450 :D

 

So I concidered if this really is normal, then I should look for a 4k TV which does support DTS.

with pcm the tv is doing the decoding with dts your audio system is doing the decoding....everything is better then pcm if your audio system can decode it...dolby, dts, but also remember this, optical can only do basic dolby and dts. you need hdmi to do any of the better ones (bandwidth issue)
also looking at the q60r, it does have dolby which is just as good as dts

That makes sense why it sounds better with DTS Neo.

 

My Teufel system does not have HDMI though, only Optical, Analog and 3,5mm.

So this seems to add an additional problem.

yea if your picky about sound a receiver is the way to go...i love the better dolby's and dts formats...channel separation is way better then standard dolby/dts
then all the tv has to have is arc on a hdmi and receiver decodes everything

I'll look for a good reciever and probably buy the Q60R since freesync 120hz on a TV is just fucking awesome for gaming on the couch.

I know, I plan on gaming in 1440p or even 1080p depending on the game only, since my GPU on my 2nd PC is not enough for 4k annyways.
