nope you need hardware.

Firtst you need to get adapters, molex to 3pin fan connector. You can connect those to mobo and control them, or buy any hardware controller. Molex is slowly dying as connector, and finding controllers with only molex will be difficult. Its much easier to go with adapters.

You're probably right them fans move nothing really anyway and they are annoying loud. But one of those fans is part of my side panel and I am not going to buy another side panel because of a fan connector difference

You mean it's integrated? Sounds odd design choice. What if that fan would die... Can you tell which case it is?

If the fan died I would have to get a new side panel this is only on the side panel. not all the case fans. oh and this side panel windows is made of plastic and is a piece of crap. I drew a ling in mspaint showing where the crack. also the fan might be removable but seems unlikely considering the way the fan is attatched to the side panel
