buying a new screen

i have got a laptop helios 300 n i think to buy a new separate display one with 120 hz the thing is the laptop  has got no dvi input so would a converted from dvi to hdmi  and use the hdmi input would this still make the 120 hz go thru and be displayed ?

I don't believe HDMI to DVI converters can support 1080p 120Hz, simply because HDMI does not have enough pins to support dual-link DVI that's required for 120Hz support.

Thanks for the response , do u know how to play on 120 hz using a laptop ?

If HDMI output is the only display output you have, then there isn't any other way short of getting a display that can do 120Hz over HDMI (that may be a thing but I'm not aware of any displays that do this)
