Morning all! So, yesterday, i decided to pull my rig apart to clean it, (shadowbringers expansion on friday, so i decided to give it a once over)

Cleaned the AIO, the fans, blew the dust out (what little was there anyway)

I put the machine back together. and it wouldn't power on, like, at all. There was no sign of live apart from the power light thats on the board itself.

I checked the psu cabled and made sure everything was plugged in (PSU in question is an BeQuite SFX L POWER 500w unit)

At this point, i was getting frustrated, i went and got a drink, and took a break for 20 minutes.

I came back rested, and did a sanity check on everything. this time, the machine lit up, but then i saw the magic blue smoke.

So, at this point, i moved everything to my test bench, and found that the DIGI+ Vrm EPU IC package with a small burn back in the top.

Ive had the psu on a tester machine for a while now, and while it does work, it tends to shut off when its coming online from a cold boot, and requires restarting.

So theres the story, now the questions.

Unlike old school hardware, motherboard protection for components is pretty robust, what is the likelyhood of the cpu and or ram being kaput at this stage? Im just looking for some input to calm my nerves and my Anxiety disorder

Ive got a new board coming in (as im sick of asus's BS at this point) made by gigabyte, so i can test myself later.

FYI, this system was never overclocked (Ryzen 1800x)

Thanks in advance!

That doesn't sound very good. Do you have another power supply you could try with the PC?

Yup, i have a trusty RM650i, the board in question dosen't initialise the firmware, and the voltage going to my AIO pump is about 4 volts, so there is a voltage regulation issue on the 12v rail on the board specifically, as the voltage going into the eps connector is around 12.4 volts, and dosen't sag at all
