Optimal Cooling vs Optimal Airflow ?

The H150i cools significantly better but whether that matters or not depends on how the 3700X may oc. The temperatures that seem similar are only so since the tests aren't heavy enough to separate the two by a large delta. When looking at the bulk of benchmarks / reviews, the H150i consistently beats the DRP4 and some show a larger delta than others. 

Chances are that the DRP4 will be quieter and that you won't get much more oc'ing performance with a better performing cooler like the H150i. 

In either case, the stock case fans should be plenty for cooling.

Hey guys,

I will buy a R7 3700X on release and I'm not sure which sort of cooling I should use in the future. For air cooling, I would choose the beQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4, for liquid cooling I would use the Corsair H150i Pro. Both have very similar temperatures, as much as I know. Now my concern is airflow. I have the Cooler Master MasterCase H500 with the Mesh equipped of course. This case has 2x 200mm front fans and one 120mm exhaust at the rear and has one of the best temperatures for stock cases. What would be smarter, top mounted H150i Pro or the air cooler? Also, should I buy extra exhaust fans when choosing the Dark Rock Pro 4?

Air is always safer than liquid, but liquid usually results in less noise, but not always.

It really depends what you're looking for. Is it less noise or less temps under heavy OC. Air has its limits and they come out with heavy OC and bigger rads. If that's not what you are after then air is plenty.
