Hello all,

I have been using my gaming/main PC to do some workstation type tasks as of late.  Admittedly, it does a pretty good job as it is no slouch.  However, I really want to make a beast of a machine that I can keep at work (where I do more stuff like that; I prefer to use my time for gaming at home :) )  For reference, I have been getting into a good amount of blender and adobe premiere.

I am obviously waiting for the zen2 release to see what's what in terms of CPU's, but I have a decent idea of what I am going to do there.  Depending on the value when reviews come out, will be weighing a x399 TR platform vs the x590.  I would like to know: how good will the 3950x be, what is the potential for future TR (gen3) upgrade path, and is it just a better buy to grab a 2950x, which seems that it is in a great overall position in terms of it's performance in various tasks (2990wx seems that it cant be fully utilized in windows).

More importantly, and my main question, is for the above programs, what have you friends found is the ideal GPU for these tasks?  Quadro RTX? How does the VII match up for these tasks?  While I love the idea of a card doing it all, a Titan RTX seems like a bit of an extravagant buy.

What do the people here doing a lot of workstation tasks use?

El Zoido:  9900k + RTX 4090 / 32 gb 3600mHz RAM / z390 Aorus Master

The Box:  3900x + RTX 3080 /  32 gb 3000mHz RAM / B550 MSI mortar
