Good day, i have NZXT H700 case (solid front panel, intake dust filter, air comes in from side vent holes). Before getting this case i already had 3 noiseblocker eloop b14-ps fans which i installed in configuration of 2x front intake and 1 rear exhaust.

The rear exhaust one works OK, however, the 2 front intakes doesnt seem to move a lot of air and make this whining noise even at moderate RPM's. It's almost as if there are too many resistances for them to do the job properly. I do not want to remove front panel, filter or do the mesh mod but maybe there are something to replace those 2 fans with that are more suitable for the job?

I read those noiseblockers dont have much of static pressure, maybe that's the problem for the case of such design? If that's the case (hehe), what would be better choise? 2x140 or 3x120? As for fan models, i do not want RGB, prefer black or black and white colour. A couple of models i read good things about - Silent Wings 3 high speed, Phanteks F-140\120MP. Maybe corsair ml140 twin pack will doas well, if the choise is 2x140.

First of all, how do you know that they aren't moving much of air?

Secondly, you can do easy test to see if its case doing harm to fan performance just by removing front of the case for testing purposes.

Thirdly, something blocking airflow wouldn't manifest itself as extra noise from fans. Thats caused by other things, maybe bearing going bad. How old are those fans?

Thank you for your reply.

It's a bit of unscientific, but i feel like i get more exhaust flow from 1 fan than i get intake from 2 fans.

Removing front panel and filter makes no difference in GPU temperature in my current gaming scenario (it's 1080ti aorus card, it has that big heatsink that contacts everything instead of just GPU die, hence the temps), but the flow is improved. I already tried re-pasting the GPU - it dropped a bit, but temps are still the same with or without front.

Fans are about a year old. But the noise is not nearly as annoying once i remove restrictions. Maybe it has something to do with blade design, if you look at them you'll see that blades are shifted a bit in front of the frame.

There is also the link to the discussion i have managed to find. "whistling and humming at the same time" is exactly what i hear.

Thats probably bearings being issue. What kind of temps you have? Changing case fans won't do that much, since removing filter already doesn't do anything. It will fix the noise problems, but temps should only change +-5C, depending on current temps ofc.

I have like 71-72 degrees in game load while gpu fans spinning about 80% and case fans around 60%

I dont think it's that terrible considering it's +31 around here these days. I will also try to test fans outside the case later and see if the noise stops.

I just do not understand why the same rear fan at the same rpm doesnt make such noise.

If it stops - i will try to attach one of them on CPU cooler (just need to bend those clips to fit :P) and a cpu fan (ty147a) i will try to place in front. That way i will only need to replace 1 fan (or place the second eloop on top exhaust)

Those are normal temps under gaming load. If you want them lower, lowering room temp by 5C will do wonders. Overall getting under 70C gaming load temps on modern GPUs usually requires either angel chip or water cooling.

The NB-eLoop's design makes the front stick out and being too close to a mesh can cause turbulent noise. It's not recommend for use in pull and that applies for case meshes and filters as well as rads / heatsink. This is a pretty common issue for fans and the severity varies depending on the case and fan.

If you want fan replacements, SW3's are great. 2x 140mm's should be similar to 3x 120mm's but the former should be cheaper and the latter being better for cooling under the psu shroud if you have particularly hot running drives.

The rear is less restrictive due to both the case design and having a bit of help from the other case fans.

I should've done my research more properly >.<

Do you think it's benefitial to place one of the eloops abobe the CPU cooler for exhaust? I have le grand macho rt.

Those fans were not cheap and i will feel bad if they just lay around on a shelf.

It could help remove more heat but might not make a noticeable difference if your temps are already fine.
