Unknown terminology - Partitioning

UrbanFreestyle

Hi everyone,

So this is a bit of an odd question that had popped into my head, I tried doing some research but either my google-foo is broken or it doesn't exist.

You have one physical disk (lets say 4tb hdd) and partition it in half leaving 2x 2tb partitions (call them A and B)

You have 2tb of data on partition A and 1tb of data on B

You then download something that is 500mb but want to place it on partition A.

Is there a way of the computer AUTOMATICALLY adjusting the partition sizes thus making A=2.5tb and B=1.5tb

I know you can go into disk management to extend and shrink partitions but didn't know if something that existed to do this intelligently or on the fly?

After all it isn't a physically different disk...

I am not sure if "dynamic" partition sizing is a thing.
