2080 ti heating up

MrCheeze

So i have 2 2080 tis and when I play a game like battlefield 5, card number 1 is getting about 80-85 c, and i thinkk thats normal (other card does not do anything because bf5 doe3s not support sli), but when a fire up a very light game like roblox (dont judge), my temps are still in the 80 range, is that normal?

That's a little bit high I would say, I'd encourage you to set a slightly more aggressive fan curve to combat that.

2080 tis get very hot compared to a card like a GTX 1080 ti.

In the past I bought 2 fan Superclocked EVGA cards. The first being a GTX 970 and the last a 1080 ti. None really got hot.

Then I bought a EVGA XC 2080 ti at the stock 100% power limit it stays relatively cool and quiet. Since it is not factory overclocked I decided to bring it up to the FTW Ultra specs and with that slight overclock the card is too hot and too noisy.  In a game like ACO at 4k ultra it is at 84c most of the time and the fan noise is annoying.

With a 4k 60hz monitor I use vsync, so most games I play don't use the overclock. The card only gets hot and loud in the poorly optimised parts of a game.

Games that make the card too loud are played on my ultra wide computer that uses a FTW3 Ultra 2080 ti. At 3840 X 1600 75hz there is a lot less stress so the FTW3 Ultra stays cool and quite.

I think your temps are normal on a low and mid range 2080 ti(2 to 3 fan, 2 slot).

SLI setups are always hotter. It is the only situation that one of my GTX 1080 tis got too hot.

What mhz are you running at 74c?

My EVGA XC is averaging 1995mhz with peeks to 2050mhz at 84c. That is with 130% on the power limit.

My EVGA FTW3 averages 2055mhz with peeks to 2100mhz at 71c at its 124% power limit.

The XC gets almost as hot(82c) set to default at 1850mhz average as it does with the overclock so I leave it on.

They do a good job of overclocking themselves.

The overclocks I use are for RT and my modded games.  Basically trying to stay over 60fps at 4k.

Here is a 1440p Heaven score showing the difference between stock and maxing out the power limit with a 150mhz overclock.

Thanks for the info.
