Beeping question

Hey,

So today I restarted my PC and started beeping 3 times after that my pc restarted and did the same thing.

I tried RAM slot cleaning, taking 1 ram out, taking gpu out then put it back, BIOS reset, everything.

There was 2 beeping everytime I started my PC but it did this this time. Any tips?

what motherboard?

 

those beeps are post codes basically. the number/length of the beeps will tell what th eerror is.

It's a old motherboard, intel dg41rq. There's the video about the beeps.

From the video you sent it seems to be a memory error. Do you have any other RAM you can test it with? 

The 2 beep you had is a normal on/off beep.

Also, check the CPU socket for bent pins. A bent pin in the memory controller bank can also cause a memory error.

everything i can find about this states that the 3 beeps mean that you have a memory error.

 

so either the RAM is bad, or i think maybe the memory controller could be bad. tough the RAM being faulty is much more likely.

I know it's not ideal to put money into a system like this, but LGA 775 Lenovo/Dell systems with a Core2Duo and 1-2GB of RAM are a dime a dozon.

Might be worth heading to your local tech shop and offering them $20 for an old one, then move your CPU/RAM/GPU/Storage into it. 

 

I agree with RollinLower, a board of this age could easily have a blown memory controller.

Well, I don't have other rams to test with (not with this conmection) but I'll check the CPU tomorrow. I've never had problem with my motherboard, so this RAM problem is a bit odd, but it's an old mobo so it was expected.

If I can't come up with something I'll take the pc to a tech shop (hope they don't scam me :/).

For an LGA 775 based system, it'd be MUCH cheaper to get something used on Facebook/Tech shop and move your parts into it yourself than to even pay 1hour of labor to a tech shop. I'm talking a $20 parts tower with no RAM or storage.

 

You need to keep in mind that LGA 775 has been around as early as 2004, FIFTEEN YEARS. Boards from that era are dropping out left right and center. 

 

A simple "how to build a PC" guide on Youtube would do more than well enough to show you how to move your CPU, GPU, RAM and storage into another system. Pretty much anything with a Core2Duo would be perfect.
