8 Gb ram not working only 4GB

help i have a issue with my 2 channel 8 gb ram i can't start my pc with both 4 gb stivks installed i got windows 7. i can't see anything if i start the pc with both 4 gb's installed.

 

ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0

AMD HD6670 AND A GTX 650 IT

AMD 6300 6-CORE

PNY 8GB 2 CHANNEL 

SANDISK SSD 64GB

always, as in ALWAYS get a 64 bit OS.

 

32 bit can't even use the full potential of 4 gig, it uses something like 3.6 gb

Did you get 32 bit windows 7 or 64 bit?

One of the sticks is dead most likely, I'd return the entire pack and get a refund.

See if the BIOS detects them. If not, try clearing the CMOS, and reinserting it in different slot configurations.

CHECK FIRST do both stick work on there own or do you have one did stick?

 

1  are you using the correct slots.  you need to use two slots of the same channel/colour.  look in the manual to find the exact ones. 

 

2  did you mess with the memory speed / timings in the bios?

 

3  update the bios, this generally add more memory compatibility.

 

4 look though the mother bored supported hard where and check if your ram modules are supported

Found your problem, 32Bit OS's can only utilize unto 4GB of RAM.

if i try turning on the pc with both sticks it will not show anything on the screen.

if you have 32 bit windows you will only be-able to use 4gb of ram.  but you should still be able to boot with any larger amount the os just wont use any of it.
