Hi all

I'm looking at upgrading my home server and thinking of a amd ryzen 1600 cpu

Does it support hardware transcoding ? Or is it, a Intel only thing ? 

 

If yes is plex compatible with it?

Ok you just quoted wikipedia for the general definition of of a topic that covers a wide-swath of actual things without specifying what actual THING you want. 

 

What you asked is like asking if a car supports "road acceleration".  It's up to the road to be optimized in this case and not the car.  The wikipedia page you linked doesn't even specify any CPU-brand specifics other than barely mentioning hyper-threading.

 

If you were asking if the Ryzen cpu has simultaneous multithreading, than yes, it does, it has 2 threads for each core, just like Intel Hyperthreading.
