I have an issue where my SSD usage spikes up to 100%. It never seems to be related to a specific program and can be caused by as little as Chrome using 0.1 MB/s. My SSD is the one stated here: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-BX300-480GB-NAND-Internal/dp/B073W4N5KB/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=bx300&qid=1560223814&s=gateway&sr=8-2

probably malware or virus.  had this for a month and couldnt figure it out. but mine was CPU and GPU usage. turned out to be infected with some bitcoining malware/virus.

1) disconnect from the internet - does the usage go back to normal?

2) connect back to the internet - does the usage shoot back up?

3) check task manager, identify the processes thats using high resources, end task them - does the usage go back to normal?

mine turned out to be scvhost.exe in c:\windows\syswow64 and nvtray.exe in c:\programdata < hidden folder. and Temp folder in C:\windows had some weird shit too.

managed to remove the nvtray.exe by using safe mode. but the svchost was undeletable so i had to change its security permissions to Deny for all users.

Havent run into any problems so far after blocking it. also blocked it in windows firewall so it cant access the internet.

there was also a weird folder name like "banNVgbfkdf" (just an example name, its random) in c:\programdata  and it had some vb scripts in it with another nvtray.exe. deleted that folder as well.

if all that doesnt work, could be a hdd issue. run some hdd diagnostics to check its health
