I read at first and was like...this guy...then I reread it and I was like - THIS GUY!  Correct its just a cooling loop just like a vehicle.  That's a huge mixed metals loop (every car on the road).  Don't see a hole springing in that aluminum from corrosion because...science.

but i think the propaline glycol is bad on pc pumps the internal plastics get eat up by it,a cars water pump is industrial strength lol made with metal parts and better internals,im pretty sure i seen a linus vid about it.

Automotive cooling is always a bad comparison. 189-225f systems with normally all metal parts and only have plastic in cheap situations. Also being ran at a specific temp for a reason. None of which would make sense for pc stuff.

First part - Science have solved this already.  Plus...all modern radiators are mostly plastic in cars so....

Love you for your advice but you are wrong.  Most radiators now-a-days have tons of plastics in them.  Google it my friend.  The ends of radiators are made of plastic. 

 

My mixed metals loops been running for months now 24/7.  Building another now to OC the shit out of my Ryzen Rig 2.  2x240 and 1x120 (waiting on pagados, everything else is here sans cosmetic stuff like M.2 covers, just ordered 3600mhz kit with black spreaders to match the build etc)

Didn't say there wasn't plastic. Nowadays, you mean the past 40 years? I clearly said aside from the cheap stuff. Any car guy knows that's the cheapest part, which is why the endtanks blow. So im not wrong, its called comprehension.

Also never seen a radiator with a lot of plastic in them. Don't know what cars you work on. End tanks are in the rad, nor is that a lot.

Id rather not. Given how thermal dynamics work, a plastic rad wouldn't work. Endtanks don't make up the rad. Point is, its still a dumb comparison. When pc fluid runs 200 degrees with a plastic tank, then ill agree its similar to a combustion engine's cooling system.

Cars are mixed metal loops, and Ill continue to espouse this.  They also contain lots of plastics.  Im indebted to you for your advice on loops, Im still a noob - but when it comes to the science behind it - I don't have to prove anything its already proven /shrug

Not arguing that. I have a stainless steal impeller. The rest is aluminum. Silicone hoses. No plastic. Only thing close are the gaskets. 

 

Point is, if theres plastics, its cheap. Like I stated. Just like aluminum is a pc loop, its cheap. Cheap is good for the masses, which is why we get posts like this everyday. Mixed metal or not, isn't the smartest choice.

oh i forgot to say the antifreeze is only really bad if you use petg hard line.....the glycol base makes a bad reaction with them apparently.thought i seen this on linus but it was on jayz's youtube.....

Yes, tubing matters with antifreeze as you note and they noted - comes down to the science behind it I use brewery tubing.  No leeching (food grade), high heat (no worries about expanding).  Just need pagados to arrive from China for 1 of my radiators so I can put my next mixed metals loop together
