I'm looking for a 2x 16gb kit for a new ryzen build (zen 2), but not sure which to go for, and which would be the b-die ones (if it does make a difference)? Any recommendations?

First off, is this a gaming build of workstation? Second, get the trident z neo either way. 16gb if it's a gaming dig, anything above is pointless.

HP Spectre x360 13t late 2019
Core i5 1035g4
8gb ram
256GB NVME SSD
HP 24mh FHD Monitor

OnePlus 5
Jabra evolve 75
Razer Blackwidow Lite

Steelseries Rival 3

Not much of gaming but more of VM's, programming, spreadsheets, and R.

Ok, 32 Gigs is good then. Still go with trident z neo, bitwit is covering computex, and he shows the neo, so I would check that out. On his yt channel

I see no reason that the Z Neo is any better for productivity than any other brand.

Frankly there are only 3 places that all of this RAM comes from, period. No brand is specific to any of the 3 manufacturers either as far as I'm aware.

So now you're talking about which heat spreader you want to buy.

For productivity on Ryzen 3xxx I would grab a decent 3200mhz kit. I think it's likely that the B550 series boards will be supporting faster, but there is kind of a sweet spot between clock speed and CAS latency, and 3200mhz with CL15/16 is pretty choice, since higher frequencies start incurring hits to the CL scores.

Crucial Ballistix, G. Skill Ripjaws, Corsair Vengeance Pro, Kingston Hyper X are all solid spreaders which could achieve a decent OC if you want to do so.

(As a rule don't grab anything slower than 3000mhz, and dual channel is key for Ryzen. It is RAM hungry.)

I agree with you here, I based me response of bitwits video covering the g.skill booth at computex. I apologize for having a short answer, I could've been a bit more specific

To flesh out the picture painted above, here is what 3200mhz with CL16 and a solid spreader might look like:

And dropping the CL to 15 brings only the Ripjaws into the range of reasonable affordability. I would argue that the extra $50 could be better spent. (NVMe, CPU, Overclockability, etc.)

Thank you for your responses above. So "b-die" or lack there of is not a big deal? What do you think of the Dominators?

Dominators are the premium Corsair products, but they perform very well yes
